“Following on from several days of negotiations and revised plans with the venue, St Peters, I’m afraid that the Summer craft market at Sudbury on the 26th June will be cancelled due to the postponement of relaxing restrictions set out by the government on Monday. We had hoped, along with the rest of the country, that restrictions would have been dropped from the 21st June which is why I proceeded with the 26th June as a ‘safe date’ to fully book the venue, back to the capacity of pre-pandemic. After many discussions with the venue and revised plans they are still insisting I reduce by a further 6 stallholders, even after reducing double spaces down to single spaces, which I’m not prepared to do, my main reason being that this is an unfair process and will lead to bad feeling which I can totally understand. At the beginning of the year I also decided that the only way I would run events this year was to run them full capacity and to the standard we have done for many years, half full venues, one way systems and social distancing is not the way we want our markets to run, we want the old normal not the new normal!!”
