“I’m Abi, and I’m the owner of small embroidery and needlework business ‘Stitched By Abi’. I started with cross stitch in my first year of university in 2017 after finding some supplies in a charity shop and used this craft as a way to deal with loneliness and having a lot of spare time. After a few months I started selling my artwork in the café I worked part-time in, and this brought customers asking for custom pieces. I spent the next couple of years building up an online business selling my own designs in the form of kits and patterns for people to make themselves, and luckily this came just in time for lockdown when a lot of people were looking for craft projects to combat boredom while stuck at home. I sell my designs all over the world, and love seeing what people make from them, and I still stitch custom pieces, whether they are portraits of family and friends, images of family homes, personalised quotes, or pop culture references that mean a lot to someone.”
